A while later when younger brother Shannon Koehler moved to San Francisco the three started a band with Spence on lead guitar pedal steel and vocals Mort on guitar bass harmonica and vocals and Shannon playing drums and harmonica and singing. Guitar and bass player Avi Vinocur joined a couple years ago after living with the other three and sharing similar musical tastes. Despite the simpler and more poetic musical influence that brought the founding three together the Stone Foxes’ sound is more accurately attributed to that of blues and classic rock groups who were coming out of the Bay Area in the ’60s.
