The Answer to classic rock’s future

But there seems to be momentum gathering for us. It is gigging the old-fashioned way but then there is a retro feel to The Answer’s brand of blues-rock. The 1970s influence of bands like Led Zeppelin and Thin Lizzy is there to hear but their youthful energy and sound have led some music critics to hail them as “the future of classic rock”. That means they are unlikely to ever find themselves on the cover of the NME although they were inadvertently “discovered” by Radio 1 and 6 Music’s new music champion Steve Lamacq. “We got our manager Dave because he was staying with Steve at the time” laughs Paul Mahon the guitarist.

ESRB reveals Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock
Gaming Target
This time it’s the third Rock Band Track Pack titled Rock Band Track Pack: Classic Rock. As with the previous Track Pack discs the game will likely collect 20 songs previously released as downloadable content on the Rock Band Store for those without an Internet connection or those without an inclination to download individual songs. The ESRB listing shows the game is scheduled for a release on the PlayStation 2 PlayStation 3 Wii and Xbox 360. The ESRB’s Ratings Summary also includes a few hints as to which songs will appear on the pack.

U2: No Line on the Horizon

Bono yelps ?Let me in the sound? but if anything he and his band mates drown in the sound. Similarly unsatisfying ?Stand Up Comedy? sounds like it could have come straight off of an Audioslave record with its groovy yet unoriginal single-string Tom Morello influenced guitar riff. For a band that has propelled itself to success by deconstructing the traditional rock format and taking it to the stratosphere it?s disappointing when U2 decides to return to Earth and churn out a back-to-basics classic rock song. As is the case with nearly every U2 album the latter half of the record simply doesn?t meet up to par with the first half and is where the band starts to lose its form as it branches out and reconstructs its musical art in the form of abstract expressionism and minimalism. ?Fez ? Being Born? comes off as far too ambient and out of touch with the rest of the album drifting into space and musical revelry without ever turning back as its military drum rolls and futuristic keyboard chimes become more of a free-form musical exercise than a cohesive song. n the other hand ?White as Snow? is the closest thing to a blank canvas led by a somber organ and simple yet somber acoustic guitar that would be commonplace on an indie-folk record. However the big band horns and ringing tremolo guitar add an infusion of energy to an otherwise calm track mired in solace.
