Absolute Radio begins tests for digital live music station

The station has begun test transmissions on DAB in London. Absolute CTRL will play a “selection of live recordings of rock and pop music aimed at a broad adult audience interested in live music”. Absolute owned by the Times of India Group already runs two digital-only stations Absolute. But while Classic Rock had 191000 listeners in the first half of this year Xtreme had an average weekly reach of just 58000.

“The Woodstock Festival was a seminal and inspirational moment in our culture. It changed the face of popular music” said Matt Ross CE of The Paul Green School of Rock Music. “With these shows” Ross said “we were in a position to have our students give back to their parents and the community the classic rock music that they grew up with. “The Paul Green School of Rock Music the performance-based rock music school for 7- to 18-year-olds was founded in 1998 by Green in Philadelphia. The school was the inspiration for the 2003 film “The School of Rock. ” It also served as the subject for the 2005 documentary “Rock School” and its students are featured in the “Woodstock: Now and Then” documentary which premiered Friday on VH1 on and will air on the History Channel tonight. There are 49 School of Rock campuses across the country including six in New Jersey: Cherry Hill Matawan Chatham Princeton Long Valley and South Hackensack.
